Chairman Jay Clayton recently hosted a roundtable in Chicago to help Main Street investors make informed decisions about their financial future. Joined by Director of the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy Lori Schock and Director of the Chicago Regional Office Joel Levin, the Chairman discussed tips to avoid fraud, the impact of fees and costs, and the importance of expanding opportunity and access to capital markets.

The Chairman also encouraged attendees to watch a newly-released series of short educational videos designed to provide ordinary investors with basic information about choosing and working with a financial professional. In these videos the Chairman discusses the types of services each model offers, how they are paid, and other things to consider in deciding whether to work with a financial professional.

The Windy City roundtable was the latest in a series of investor engagement and education events that included an investor roundtable held in Boston earlier this summer and previous outreach events in Philadelphia, Denver, Miami, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
