Olivier A. Girod became the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Director of the Office of Support Operations in December 2021. He was named the Acting Director in February 2021, and previously served as the Deputy Director beginning in September 2015. He first started at the SEC as an Assistant Director for Building Operations in March 2014. In his current role, he has been designated as the SEC’s Chief FOIA Officer and Senior Agency Official for Records Management.

Before joining the SEC, Mr. Girod was a senior executive in the Plant Operations business unit of the U.S. Government Publishing Office, serving as the Deputy Managing Director, Acting Managing Director, and Managing Director from 2004 to 2014. Prior to that, he spent a decade in a variety of technology and operations positions at The Washington Post. Earlier, he worked in the aerospace and nuclear industries.

Mr. Girod graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, received a master’s in industrial engineering from Texas Tech University, and holds a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from Virginia Tech. He is a Professional Engineer licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
