I do not support the initiative to require hedge fund managers to register with the SEC at this time. I agree with Commissioners Atkins and Glassman that further study of the hedge fund industry is needed to better define the problem the SEC is trying to solve and to explore in more depth an appropriately narrow policy response to the problem or problems identified. I do not understand why the SEC is moving with such haste to address a situation that no one has described as in crisis and that affects such a small group of extremely wealthy investors.
