I am very much against the exchanges now operating as for-profit enterprises. I also find the sale of market data by the exchanges to be a political move to disadvantage individual investors in order to promote large institutional and professional brokerages. I believe that market data should be treated as a public good that should be widely available and affordable to ensure market transparency and create a level playing field among all traders and investors—not just institutions and professionals.
