Fees should not be charged for market data. Freely available data help insure that markets operate fairly and indeed, correctly. To be competitive, as markets should be, the status of current market conditions (prices in particular) must be available to all potential buyers and sellers. If fees are charged for such data, the market and small traders in particular will be hurt.
