Stephen W. Joynt is Chief Executive Officer of Fitch Group, Inc. the parent company of Fitch Ratings, Algorithmics and Fitch Training. Steve also serves as Chief Executive Officer of Algorithmics and as President and Chief Executive Officer of Fitch Ratings.
Steve joined Fitch in 1989 as an original member of the team that acquired and restructured Fitch Investors Service, and served as its President and a member of the Board of Directors beginning in 1994. In December 1997, Steve was named President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Fitch IBCA, a company formed through the merger of Fitch Investors Service and IBCA Limited of London. In 2000, he managed the successful integration of the acquisitions of Duff & Phelps and Thomson BankWatch to create the present Fitch Ratings.
Steve is known inside and outside the company as an advocate of increasing transparency in all areas of the capital markets. He promotes the use of market risk analysis and credit modeling, together with fundamental credit analysis, to improve ratings usefulness in assessing investment safety and stability for investors and depositors throughout the world.
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Arizona.
