Katz, I'm urging the SEC require that mutual funds disclose their proxy-voting policies, procedures and voting records. If adopted, the new rule would be a giant step forward for mutual-fund transparency, improved corporate governance and greater social and environmental responsibility on the part of America's corporations. I want fund managers to be more accountable, so that they will be less likely to vote down the line with company management and more likely to vote in the best interests of their shareholders.
