Date: 1/5/98 3:08 PM Subject: re: S7-25-97 Dear Mr. Arthur Levitt, I am a stockholder who holds about 75 percent of his wealth in mutual funds and other instruments. I am also active in the meetings of some of the companies whose stock I own. I am very strongly opposed to S7-25-97 because it prevents the exercise of free speech at forums where company policy and practices may be subjected to review. I do not consider my stock and fund holdings to be simply engines to generate my bottom line. I consider them also from an ethical viewpoint, and I want very much to be able at stockholder meetings to bring to the attention of my companies certain practices that have an impact on the health and well being of children, women, minorities, and so on. Please note my opposition to S7-25-97 and move against it. James Lee
