Jonathan Katz:
I am a licensed insurance professional and variable products salesperson.
The proposal in discussion will negatively impact investors because the one page form only reiterates purported negative aspects of mutual funds and/or variable annuities.
Mutual funds and annuities are key elements to building a nest egg and stream of income for long term retirement use. The media has already done a good job of scaring the average investor from investing in these products. Inaction on the part of an investor is more harmful to long term financial security than is investing in mutual funds and annuities that will hopefully help them save for their goals.
If you are in fact imposing new disclosure documents, please let it not be one-sided in highlighting the costs and fees, only. A proper disclosure would reiterate the positive purpose of the investments as well.
Sincerely,
Julie Shickel
