Please consider whether your cure is worse than the disease. I do not need any help from the government to tell me where I can invest. That level of paternalism is destructive to the fundamental thinking that has given this country the greatest progress ever known to date.
If you want to help, enforce the laws against embezzlement and fraud and bogus accounting. Make the penalties for white collar crime very severe.
Give more visibility into the results of stockholder voting. We vote, but we never see the detailed results of the voting.
These buyouts of CEOs for millions and tens of millions of dollars is really lousy. Figure out a way to let stockholders decide whether such compensation is warranted. Maybe the salary and bonus of top management should require the approval of the stockholders?
