July 29, 1996 Mr. Jonathan O. Katz Secretary Securities and Exchange Commission 450 5th Street NW Washington, D.C. 20549 Dear Mr. Katz, I am writing to urge the SEC to approve NASDAQ's NAqcess trading system. I believe this system should replace the SOES system due to the widespread and well documented abuses of the SOES system. While Informix stock is largely held by institutional investors, we do have a significant number of individual stockholders (among them many Informix employees), and I believe the adoption of the NAqcess system would offer all stockholders a level playing field with respect to pricing practices by market makers. NAqcess offers a solution which would protect the individual investor and foster fair treatment for all stockholders. Sincerely, INFORMIX SOFTWARE, INC. Margaret R. Brauns Vice President Treasurer Informix Software, Inc. 4100 Bohannon Drive Menlo Park, Ca. 94025 415-926-6300
