In my local paper a week ago there was a short article saying the S.E.C. was considering dropping the downtick restriction of short sales. I have not been able to find any such proposal on your website. Are you considering doing this? If so I think it is a HUGE MISTAKE. If anything, short sales should be restricted even more or abolished all together. What benefit do short sales provide for the general public and the economy. It seems to me they only benefit "professional traders" who try to scare the average investor into the much revered capitulation. Eliminating short selling would help bolster the confidence of "the little guy" in investing in a more stable and rational market. Please let me know if you are really considering making this change. If you are, I will do my best to raise the general awareness on this issue. It deserves a fair and complete discussion before any action is taken.
