There are millions of new investors coming on-line every day with simple PC's, and thousands of retail short sellers with sophisticated PC's and better access to information are taking the new, simple investor to the cleaners. I personally as well as many friends and family members have experienced first hand what they can do. For the last 18 months many of u have felt the wrath of a well orchestrated shorting of one of the stocks I hold. Even with the regulations they are cleaning up taking the simple and even some of the experienced investors to the cleaners. You should tighten the rules immediately and in very short order ban retail short selling altogether. If funds are not available to continue monitoring and enforcing the rules as they are, a better option for the long investor would be such a ban on retail short selling. If the voting public cannot have protection from illegal and manipulative practices that are going on now, let alone later, voters will hound Washington for relief and stricter regulation measures will then have to be taken. The average individual is now trying to make the best for their future as possible. The ability to use the computer at home or work to monitor the every day movement of an investment puts John Doe closer to the investment arena. The big problem is that there are short manipulators out there waiting to take every dime we have by using every tool possible to accomplish this task and in some cases even gloating over it in some of the stock chat rooms to boot. It makes no sense to relax restrictions at a time, I believe, more stringent regulation measures should be adopted. If it is not done now, most probably it will have to be done later at a much, much higher cost to investors, voters, taxpayers and the Federal Government. GREGG C. GLASSER 3486 Cobia Cir.
