   SEC and CFTC Draft Legislation to Lift Ban on Single Stock
                             Futures
                                
               Agencies Agree to Joint Regulation

     Washington, DC, September 14, 2000 - The Securities and
Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission
today transmitted to Congress draft legislation that would lift
the ban on single stock futures.  The agencies also recommended a
regulatory structure for joint regulation of single stock
futures.

     Accompanying this news release is the transmittal letter and
a summary of the SEC/CFTC agreement.
