Since we have had stricter laws regarding conflict minerals, places like the Congo now work at conflict-free mines. Tiffany and Company only by from unionized mines and only buy conflict free gems. Since Myanmar is the only place to purchase rubies and since that country has human rights violations, Tiffany does not get the rubies it needs because it refuses to buy from Myanmar. If they can be successful while still insuring human rights, other companies can to.
