This is most likely the last place in the world that a comment like this is heard. The biggest growth industry in the world is US government agencies. It really does not matter whether I support the responsible use of resources or not. The new default is Let The Government Do It. It's not that our results improve in any measurable way. What we accomplish is a system that removes key stakeholders from decisions by replacing them with bureaucrats. Please be intellectually honest enough to admit that every federal agency becomes an agent of politics. Leadership is not earned, it is granted by a party with expectations to do its bidding. Take half the money budgeted for another agency, grant it to states and localities and we will all get better outcomes.
