This is a bad idea, full of unintended consequences. I live in a slightly remote part of NM. Primary access to my home is across the BLM, and has been for decades. Closing off my access across the BLM will require me to put in about a mile of new private road to connect to another private road. There are three other homes that would be completely cut off. NM depends upon BLM for so many things, and BLM land is not just in large sections, it’s scattered all over the place. Does this proposal dig into the impacts that closure of these lands will have? Do these people even care? This is a very bad idea that ignores the reality of life in the west.
