I am opposed to the SEC’s proposed rules to create Natural Asset Companies (NACs) for the New York Stock Exchange. The notion that a government agency can usurp control of the air we breathe, the sunshine we enjoy, and the water we drink, and then monetize them for sale to the highest bidder, is alarming. This endeavor strips property rights from legitimate landowners, the taxpaying citizens of this country. Moreover, the NAC concept allows global elites to dictate what is acceptable use of the land thereby stripping the civil rights of local producers. These NACs could then prevent the productive use of the land, which would financially harm landowners and could create food shortages across the country. In addition, this plan could ultimately be used to steal American natural resources and offer them for sale to hostile foreign interests who can afford them. Thus, the plan is a massive transfer of wealth and a form of communism, which a foreign, undemocratic, anti-American ideology that seeks to destroy individual liberty. The American people did not vote for this. This is a fundamental violation of the foundation of America. Conversely, Article I of the Constitution empowers Congress to pass laws, not the unelected, Executive Branch bureaucrats who devised this proposed program. Finally, protecting and securing American democracy means that the Constitution must be adhered to and the voice of the people through our elected representatives be respected and followed. Therefore, I am opposed to this undemocratic initiative.
