Subject: Natural Asset Companies and Private/Public Land Ownership There are good reasons to hold off on this proposal. The idea of giving control of America's public and private lands smacks of selling our birthright. Teddy Roosevelt and all who understand his legacy would have your hide for this. The proposed policy of forgoing traditional accounting standards is an invitation to attract fraud by Natural Asset Companies (NACs). The potential for abuse in regard to the productive use of the land, which could hurt the landowners financially, must be cooperatively addressed by representative parties before moving ahead. Profit mechanisms from ecological performance likely do not have tested safeguards mature enough to avoid common misrepresentations. The goal of prioritizing environmentalism over sustaining human vitality is more idealistic than prudent. Too many independent authorities disagree with the hypothesis.
