I learned about this proposal through party communications. As an American whose family history on this continent goes back to the 1630s and an adherent of the republican system, I find this proposal abhorrent. This is OUR land, held in trust by the government. To sell the rights to it, even to protect it, is morally repugnant and likely would not withstand constitutional examination. To me, this move is one more reason not to trust government. I will encourage my senators and representatives to do everything in their power to stop this horrid attempt to deprive Americans of access to and use of OUR land.
