I am writing to express concern and oppose the creation of Natural Asset Companies. Private companies, especially potentially foreign companies should not be able to own and dictate to our towns, cities, states, and ultimately our country how to use our land and resources. In a time when we are increasingly looking at how to best use and wisely steward our resources to benefit our communities, giving up this responsibility to a private company seems not only ill advised, but irresponsible. We need to be able to use our natural resources wisely to produce food, energy, essential products needed for technology and other development. Americans saw how over reliance on supplies from other countries can make us vulnerable, and if the creation of NAC goes into effect this has a high potential to exacerbate that problem. Therefore I am opposed to allowing Private Natural Asset Companies to control public land.
