I am against this SEC rule which would allow foreign countries and or agents of foreign corporations to own lands in the United States and trade share of these “conservation corporations” on the exchange as a conservation asset. This is a classic example of misguided attempts by groups with a green agenda to tie up agricultural lands in the name of “conservation”, and is a back door vehicle for foreign countries and their agents to own agricultural lands in states which have ruled such ownership to be illegal. While well intended in light of the exploration of formal carbon offset markets, and allowing agricultproducers to monetize the positive practices which they are already using to sequester carbon in the soil, this rule is seriously flawed and needs to be rewritten or scrapped in its entirety.
