I am writing in opposition to the listing of Natural Asset Companies or any similar corporate device with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The statutory role of the SEC is to assure lawful exchange of valid legal entities for the protection of the investing public. The so called Natural Asset Company is not created to participate in commerce but to bind up substantial expanses of land and sequester it from productive use. Taking productive assets out of the commercial environment is in direct conflict with the stated goals and statutory purposes of the SEC. The SEC Website states: "The federal securities laws empower the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) with broad authority over all aspects of the securities industry. The SEC’s mission is to protect investors; maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets; and facilitate capital formation." Natural Asset Companies operate in opposition to capital formation! There is no place under the SEC umbrella for anti-capital Natural Asset Companies which acquire land specifically for the purpose of taking it out of commerce and thereby depriving the public from participating in this market. There is absolutely nothing about the Natural Asset Company that fits within the statutory roles and responsibilities of the SEC and for this reason I urge the SEC to reject all involvement with this dubious enterprise.
