I oppose the creation of Natural Asset Companies that will be used to sell our public lands. I do not want our country’s public lands, waters and air sold to private interests who will benefit from restricting any use or benefit of the lands and it's assets to the American citizens. As Margaret Byfield warned in Real Clear Markets: "These NACs would quantify and monetize these natural outputs (such as air or water). The best comparison would be using the air we breathe as a cryptocurrency of sorts. And, these natural assets that collectively belong to all of us would now belong to corporations run by what many would call environmental special interests. The idea that clean air could be monetized is truly terrifying and should be to any free-thinking person. The prospect that those private interests could include foreign powers like the Chinese Communist Party, Russia and Iran who may have their own reasons for wanting to lock down our hydrocarbon-based fuels, our minerals, forests, etc. And at their convenience could simply de-list the NAC from the Exchange leaving them free to extract, mine and benefit from the very same Natural Resources they had created the NAC to "protect ". I urge the Commission to reject this rule immediately.
