This rule, if established, completely destroys any remaining shred of legitimacy in the stock market. If there is zero downside for the inherently high risk behavior of naked shorting a security, why would any company decide to go public? This makes it very clear that the SEC is not acting for the good of the people but instead for the good of wealthy private interests that want to bend the rules the second things look bad for them. Utterly despicable how far we have fallen if this sort of rule is the sort of \"oversight\" you all are providing to the market. Obfuscation and back-door get out of jail free cards for wealthy hedge funds and a giant middle finger to retail investors. Anyone supporting this should be ashamed of themselves.
