The current ability of hedge funds and other MMs (\"Market Makers\") to short securities has enabled them to control the stock price negatively, and in some cases, to the point of near catastrophic losses to individual shareholders. We do not possess the financial capability to weather this storm, either with falling stock prices, or the ability to take a truly long position in the hope the stock price eventually can escape from the negative control these hedge funds can exert. The SEC must act on behalf of the individual investor and more closely monitor AND PUNISH those organizations who conduct their business in this grossly negligent fashion.
