I am writing in regards to the NASDAQ proposal for rule changes regarding diversity in boards. I am a High School Business teacher, a female, and the sole parent of two children. I do not agree with this proposed rule change. I believe in, and support boards that have a diverse background of leaders. I also understand the data is showing boards with greater diversity perform better. The diversity is not the issue. The issue I have with this rule change is whether it should be mandated or not. I believe many companies are seeing the benefits of having a diverse background of people in their organization and are already making changes in that direction without the mandate so let the market correct itself.
