I am a Swedish citizen who owns US stocks, and I am concerned about the delayed implementation of FINRA Rule 4210 (Margin Requirements). The rule was supposed to be implemented back in 2016, but implementation has been postponed several times, most recently until October 25, 2023. And now FINRA has proposed to postpone implementation once again until May 22, 2024. As a private investor, who values fair market rules, this makes me lose confidence in the US stock market. The deadline, which has already been extended by seven years, should be enough for all serious actors to implement the rule, and those who say they need more time thus only seem to want to postpone the implementation for their own gain.
