Please do not change the rules regarding REITS. I recently purchased a mortgage REIT stock as my retirement money is earning a paltry .50% in a 12-month CD. The share price and the yield will both crash if the SEC changes the rules.
Why this, why now? Seems to me there are larger issues to take on: like the problems caused by banks being too big to fail, for instance.
I cannot begin to tell you how upsetting this news has been to me. I am set to retire in less than five years and my so-called nest egg has languished for a decade at least. I have been counting on my newly purchased mREIT to get me somewhat ahead.
Please leave mREITS as they are.
