Small retail orders are directed off the lit market where big firms are able to control the amount of buys/sells of certain stocks. The use of PFOF only benefits Institutions, as they limit on exchange purchases to benefit themselves. For example: The buy orders are sent off exchange and only sell orders are processed on the lit exchange. This drives down the stock price. Institutions also place large sell orders and then cancel them after the trading day ends, but the damage is already done. Please give retail buyers a fair chance in the market.
