My opinion regarding SEC quarterly filings filings is that filings every 4 months would be an improvement in reporting. It would reduce the frequency somewhat, yet share important, timely information with shareholders.
I feel semi-annual would be too long allowing corporations to shelter from the public view any problems.
Additionally semi, or even anual only filings would allow corporate insiders too much of an advantage over public shareholders. Further the extended filing dates would permit corporate insiders opportunity(s) to share inside details with significant shareholders and the expense of smaller shareholders.
