Rule Comments,
I am an associate professor at a regional university in Louisiana. I have money invested with several different mutual funds and through TIAA-CREF. And I am writing to oppose any change that would make it harder to submit shareholder proposals at company annual meetings.
As an investor, I have a stake in what corporations do. Shareholder proposals are an important way to hold corporations accountable to shareholders, and more broadly to the general public. Shareholder proposals can pressure companies to act in more socially responsible ways. For these reasons I support maintaining current rules regarding the submission of shareholder proposals.
