Since share lending programs are currently offered in the US markets by most brokers, securities lending has direct exposure to retail investors. It is imperative to institute transparency in all lending activities and implement strict audit and reporting controls. This is critical to establish trust in US financial institutions which is rapidly eroding at the moment.
