It is absolutely unacceptable that a market maker, active market participant, or brokerage should not have to transparently report their short and lending positions. If a market is to be free and fair, there must be no shady backdoor dealings between large enterprises kept away from the public.
If US markets are truly free and fair, this cannot be allowed.
