I have been an assistant to a financial planner for the past 27 years and handle customer service. I treat the service needs of a small investor the same as those of a large investor, but don't believe all of our industry does. I believe that the proposed 12b1 changes won't change the service we offer our clients or the way we do business, but I believe it will hurt those investors that have advisors that have built their practices on c shares rather than a share mutual funds. To me if you cap the c share advisor's compensation that may cause them to think about illegally "churning" accounts to keep their compensation level and/or service their small investors less.
