I am against any involvement of the SEC regarding the structure or sale of any fixed annuity, indexed or otherwise. How would the term "security" be redefined to include these contracts? Once so defined, what other designs does the Commission have on the regulation of other financial products? Every time, and I think history has proven this, a Federal Government agency grabs a little more power under the pretense of protecting the public, we all pay for such expansion of power through loss of liberties, increased taxes, and exponential growth of the agency. Christopher Cox is another example of a political appointee (non-elected and therefore not directly answerable to the people being regulated) using the public office to gain notoriety and ultimately financial gain.
