I understand that you are considering placing Equity Indexed Annuities (EIA)under the regulation of the SEC. THANK YOU This is long overdue.
The companies that sell EIA's are quick to point out that they are actually "fixed" annuities, and yet they market them as a security. They are usually sold by agents that do not have a securities license (or had it revoked) but they sell them as if the prospects are "investing" in the stock market with no risk. I contend that they are purchased by people who do not understand what they are and are sold by agents who do not truly understand what they are and how they work.
Please put them under your regulation and have them sold by registered representatives who might begin to represent them properly.
Thank you.
