Dear Securities and Exchanges Commission,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding a proposed rule change that would codify ESG scoring into public industry regulation. I believe it is well beyond the purview of the SEC to embrace, much less engage in, rule-making which would impose ESG scoring on any industry. I understand this proposed rule change/update would require public companies to disclose their “carbon emissions” scores as well as those of their customers and suppliers. This policy is an assault on the concept of free markets and will serve to strangle medium and small business, handcuff public companies to politically contrived regulations and ultimately, force subjective, ideological compliance on the American public. I strongly discourage consideration of this policy or any of this nature. Thank you for taking my concerns seriously. Regards, Stacey West
