I believe that the government (this time the SEC) is overreaching its authority. The Enhancement and Standardization of Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors rule would cover every company in America. Most companies do not have the data to respond to requests for this kind of disclosure. Small companies do not have the money to hire an expert to provide that data. The rule is relying on \"science\" that is not proven. Once again, unelected \"expert\" government bureaucrats are wielding power that should not be in their hands. Their value judgements are not the same as mine. I elected legislators to go through the proper channels to enact changes.

Public companies are already required to disclose risks and uncertainties about their operations. This new rule is a power grab for those firms that believe in ESG investing and want to pressure other companies, and individuals, to follow their point of view. Excessive regulation squashes the little guy thus squashing competition for these \"woke\" firms.
