Regarding the SEC proposed rule for Climate-Related Disclosures for Investors. Having read both the for and against arguments relating to this regulatory change, the arguments "against" this change are much more substantive than "for" the change or implementation. As climate related issues are already covered under existing regulations, clearly pointed out in the "against" arguments, this clearly looks like a way for the federal government to exceed its powers and try to influence the way a company is operated by its management or board. Trying to achieve this control by regulating access to the EPA into companies is an overreach of SEC authority. The SEC needs to stay in their lane and ensure that companies are reporting properly based on existing regulations.
