I support the SEC's proposed climate rules to require companies to disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and study the impacts their products have on the climate. Fossil fuel companies have poisoned our air and water with zero accountability for far too long and I am glad the Securities Exchange Commission is taking the impact of fossil fuels seriously.

It's no secret that fossil fuel companies have had a direct role in creating the climate crisis. From the burning of fossil fuels to giant oil spills that pollute our ocean, fossil fuel companies have had a devastating impact on our environment for decades.

We all know that carbon pollution is a leading driver of our rapidly-warming planet. And even more sinister, the fossil fuel industry knows that their products harm the air we breathe and the water we drink. Yet, they haven't been required to report to their shareholders the devastating impacts their products have on public health and the climate.

That is why the newly proposed climate rules would be so critical-it would ensure that emissions targets and climate effects of their products would be made public and therefore subject to scrutiny so these companies can be held accountable.

As for legal basis for the SEC to go forward with the climate rules: A 1988 Supreme Court ruling that \"information is material if there is a substantial likelihood that a reasonable shareholder would consider it important in investment decisions.\"

Make no mistake: fossil fuel companies and industry giants will try to stop these climate rules from being implemented, but the SEC is trying to do the right thing by our only home-planet Earth. I support the new rules, so please do your best to uphold them for the sake of the people, plants, and animals that inhabit this world.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
