Neither natural disasters nor government regulations are anything new. To the extent climate change potentially affects either disasters or regulations, inclusion of such climate considerations in reporting is appropriate.

However, neither current emissions nor future plans for emissions nor any similar operational information is directly material to either disasters or regulations. While some investors no doubt desire this information, it is not the business of the SEC to require it in SEC filings. In fact, such requirements would represent overreach on the part of SEC.

SEC needs to stick to the business of business and leave political and social considerations to companies and their investors.
