ESG disclosures should be mandated. Before wide-spread awareness of ESG, many companies engaged in shady business practices that were detrimental to the environment, social, and governmental factors. Investors were unaware because of the lack of disclosure requirements and were later blindsided if the information came to light. It is time for transparency so investors know the true nature of the company they are taking a risk with.
