I am a retail investor. I believe the market should be transparent. If market makers/hedge funds believe in their short positions, especially for a year plus, should have to be reported to make sure these institutions are not over leveraged. There is infinite loses in short positions and if there is a significant short positions in the market this could lead to a crash of markets in the US or world wide. The SEC should be protecting the markets and the retail investors that put their hard earned money to help companies in the US and abroad grow and thrive. Instead of shorting companies that make innovations in science and medicine, provide products.
