Dear SEC,
I am a small individual investor. I once had the confidence that the stock market was a "fair" venue for small investors to expect reasonable gains in return for their risk of capital. With the current economic crisis, I have lost most of my confidence in the market's "fairness," particularly because of stock prices being driven down by short sellers. I absolutely refuse to reenter the market unless I know the playing field is leveled, by a reinstatement of the "uptick rule."
I demand this rule be passed. Naked shorting must be completely stopped and made illegal. Stop hiding the term naked shorting with the term toxic assets. Shorting stocks in times of tragedy, such as Sept 11, 2001, and, in the current financial crisis, must be stopped. Please restore my confidence so that I can once again invest, with the hopes of regaining some of my catastrophic losses which were suffered through NO FAULT OF MY OWN.
Thank you
James Holden
