Hi, I am an individual investor who got into the stock market during the start of pandemic in 2020. Ive learned so much during these past two years, and what I dont understand is that we live in a digital world where transactions are instant but settlements take days. By shortening settlement period, I believe that it will mitigate lower margin requirements for clearing agency members and reduce pro-cyclical margin and liquidity demands which is overall good for the market structure.
