I support the move to shorten settlement times for broker transactions. However, I believe settlement times should be shortened to T+0, and I believe the entire system should operate on a public blockchain. The stock market should be as fast and transparent as possible, and any obfuscation of data is only in the best interests of those who currently benefit from the asymmetry in data available to market participants. If the SEC is going to put a 2 year time frame on implementation of changes to settlement times, I feel we should skip over T+1 altogether and go straight to T+0. That being said, I support the change from T+2 to T+1, and I thank the SEC for actively working to protect retail's interests.
