 On-line brokerages that refuse to communicate with with anyone except the customer is letting them get away with not transferring public stocks to private equity shares held at American Stock Transfer and other registry firms.  It makes it impossible for private firms to issue IRS required Schedule k-1 to all unit holders.  It allows online brokerages to effectively steal private equity shares.  \"Street Name\" may have been necessary 30 years ago but it is archaic now and allows brokerages to get away with not transferring shares and naked short selling
