As an investor, I depend on the integrity of the Securities and Exchange Commission. With any agency, integrity and public trust depend on the ability of employees to come forward with evidence of violations and fraud without risking their professional standing and financial future.
I urge you to put in place strong protections and substantial rewards for the whistleblowers who can provide critical information needed to ensure that the SEC works properly.
Demanding that whistleblowers' complaints be funneled through internal compliance mechanisms would make their reporting an exercise in self destruction.
I appreciate the opportunity to comment for the record.
