I am concerned that the disclosure requirements as proposed will have a negative impact on business by diminishing market value through increased cost due to tighter regulation. Effectively this will serve to further cripple smaller businesses that are already struggling to recover from the pandemic and bring in capital. Additionally, the job of the company is to disclose financial information to investors, who, by nature, are more concerned with their capital than the workplace culture and practices of the company. Investors are not ignorant, and good investors do their own research into the issues that companies are pursuing. Unnecessary regulation may be attractive to the SEC and other regulatory agencies but it is not attractive to the American people. I respectfully urge that these new reporting regulations be struck down so that business can be free to operate without more strictures.
